WiFi tethering coming to Android 2.2

WiFi tethering is coming to Android 2.2 soon to be released. The only question will be if the Carriers will charge for this or not. Currently Verizon charges $40.00 per month to use your phone as a WiFi hotspot. Part of the deal with the Palm Pre Plus was free WiFi hotspot, but that was a promotion to help sell them. I really hope they don’t charge and just let this be part of the OS ability.

WiFi will be highly available like 3G in the near future, or at least highly accessible. London has a major plan in place to have WiFi through out the entire city, and they want to have this ready for the next Summer Olympics that will be held there.
